Here at Body Center St. Pete, we are interested in bringing out the best in your body. We are putting a spin on traditional physical therapy by creating a very specific plan for each individual based on their body’s history and needs.
Our focus and attention is always on you. We take impeccable care towards balancing your body back to wellness, which is our ultimate goal. We use an effective form of structural massage therapy called Neurosomatic Therapy. This therapy, developed by one of the founders of Neuromuscular Therapy, Paul St. John, is used to identify and eliminate the source of your pain. We then go deeper into aligning your body by releasing painful trigger points that may be inhibiting proper movement patterns.
Specific Pilates (Kane School) strengthening exercises are then used to stabilize your body in its new and proper postural position. Here is where we make sure the old movement patterns do not persist. Instead, we utilize information from the postural analysis to strengthen new habits and release harmful habits of the past. The exercise aspect of the therapy may also include gait analysis, Yoga, Active Isolated Stretching, Muscle Activation Technique, Alexander Technique, The Feldenkrais Method, The Schroth Method of Scoliosis, TRX, and breath training.
The final and perhaps most important aspect of wellness is self-care. We take the time to investigate movements of daily living (driving, sitting, walking, lifting, gardening) to make sure the new alignment and postural habits can integrate into your life, decreasing the possibility for recurring pain. We encourage an at-home program which will include short exercises, self-massage, and tools to remember proper posture. Finally, stress reduction techniques will be explored to have a full body path to wellness.
